Local report: 'Runners fall to Fullerton in men's soccer

FULLERTON -- A slow start by the Cal State Bakersfield men's soccer squad led to an early deficit Sunday, and despite a reenergized second half, CSUB fell 3-1 to Cal State Fullerton.

Joe Polifroni scored his first goal of the season for the Roadrunners (3-9-4).

Arneson 7th at WSC tourney

SOLVANG -- Bakersfield College's Dana Arneson tied for seventh with an 11-over 83 during the first day of the Western State Conference women's golf championships at the River Course at Alisal. Santa Barbara's Natalie Todd is the overall leader at 71.

Jockey Club to honor 13

The Jockey Club will honor 12 high school and one college athlete today at Cataldo's Pizzeria, 3611 Stockdale Highway.

Those recognized include: cross country runners Ashlee Thomas (Centennial), Brant Jones (Centennial), Brianna Diaz (Delano), Chris Schwartz (Foothill) and Dimitrius Lara (West), volleyball players Carly Faulkner (Highland) and Courtney Parker (South), and football players Matt Guerra (Foothill), Ben Jarvis (West), Zach Martin (Highland), Rene Gonzalez (Delano) and Tanner Webb (North).

Also Cal State Bakersfield soccer player Steve Trojanowski will be honored.
