UC Riverside men top Cal State Fullerton, 1-0, in soccer

Nathan Paterson scored from 35 yards out to lift UC Riverside over Cal State Fullerton, 1-0, in a Big West Conference men's soccer match Wednesday.
The goal, which sailed over the head of goalkeeper Brent Douglas, came in the 60th minute off an assist by Andrew Villalobos.
UCR improved to 4-3-3, 1-1-1 in conference. Cal State Fullerton fell to 4-6-1, 0-3-1.
Women's Volleyball
CSUSB ranked No. 1 - - The Cal State San Bernardino women's volleyball team received the No. 1 ranking in the first Division II Pacific Region poll, released Wednesday.
The Coyotes are 17-1 overall and 14-0 against teams in the region. Eight of the top 10 teams in the Nov. 11 final poll will be invited to the NCAA tournament.
Cal State could play host to the regional tournament for a second consecutive year if it maintains the No. 1 ranking.
The Coyotes are 9-0 and in first place in the California Collegiate Athletic Association with nine matches to play.
RCC d. Saddleback - - Brittany Rush had 28 kills and Markeshia Richie added 26 kills to lead Riverside Community College over Saddleback, 27-30, 30-16, 27-30, 30-27, 15-13, in an Orange Empire Conference match.
Brittany Whitlock had 36 digs and Andrea Valenzuela had 35 digs for the Tigers (5-5, 1-3 in conference).
Sarah Martin posted 17 kills and 39 digs to lead the Gauchos (4-5, 1-3).
Women's Soccer
Cal Baptist 1, Point Loma Nazarene 0, 2OT - - With 1:07 remaining in the second overtime period, Lizzy Bendrick redirected a pass to Lindsey Merrett, who tucked in the game's only goal to boost California Baptist past No. 6 Point Loma Nazarene in a Golden State Athletic Conference game.
The Sea Lions (8-3-1, 2-2-1 in GSAC) had 19 shots to the Lancers' 13, but the Lancers (9-3, 4-1) had seven shots on goal to the Sea Lions' four.
Women's Water Polo
RCC 17, Cypress 6 - - Riverside Community College took a 10-3 lead into the half and cruised to an Orange Empire Conference victory. The Tigers remained undefeated at 21-0, 4-0 in conference.
