With the 2008 budget meeting just one month away, the Aliso Viejo Community Association discussed some of this year's lingering issues at Monday's meeting.

Restroom installation at Woodfield Park was one of the top priorities as AVCA board members continue to review multiple bids from contractors so they can allocate funding in the budget for the project.

The exact amount of money required for installation is still unknown but that amount has gone up significantly, according to AVCA secretary Larry McKenney.

"The board received bids from staff, which came in higher than expected," McKenney said. "It is prudent that we go back and look at those bids again because the discrepancy between bids was great."

McKenney added that it might be necessary to pursue additional bids because of the inconsistency.

Some Aliso Viejo residents are still adamant about fighting plans to install the restrooms.

"The restrooms will be one more place for kids to hide out," Brett Goellner said. "For me, it's an issue of safety and vandalism and there are too many open-ended problems that could arise."

IN OTHER BUSINESS:

The Parks and Landscape Committee will visit the Ladera Ranch community garden and the Fullerton Arboretum to gather ideas for the development of the Aliso Canyon Community Park.

Members of the Parks and Landscape Committee will also be given ACCP master plans from 1995, 2000 and 2001 so they can look for commonalities and use the ideas in the future.
