Pope John's Guthrie key for Villanova
Kaley Guthrie (Pope John) is having a solid season for the dominating Villanova women soccer squad. Guthrie, a senior midfielder/ forward, has started in seven of nine games and has scored two goals and two assists for the Wildcats (7-0-2).
Her contributions have helped Villanova outscore its opponents 27-2. Her goals included a late score in a 3-0 win over Lafayette on August 31 and a goal and assist in an 11-0 blow out of St. Peter's College on September 11. The Nationally ranked team is coached by former Randolph player and coach Ann Clifton.
• Jessica Bitsack (Mendham) recently had a goal and an assist in Colgate's 3-1 triumph over the University of Vermont on September 21.
Bitsac, a sophomore forward/midfielder has started in nine games and has a goal and five assists so far on the season. Colgate has a 5-3-1 record. Last year Bitsack was Patriot League Co-Rookie of the Year.
• Roxbury standout Erica Peschken is back on the field for the University of California-Fullerton Titans. Peschken was sidelined with injuries and red shirted last year.
In 2005 she appeared in 17 games. This season the sophomore forward has made appearances in three contests so far for the Titans (4-3-1).
• Mendham's Kim Reichel has played in all eight games of the Rider University girls soccer team's season so far.
A freshman defender/midfielder who is known for her defense has also contributed to the Broncos on the offensive end. On September 7, she scored a goal in the 86th minute to help Rider tie Navy 1-1. The Broncos have a 3-2-3 record this season.
