Men's golf team comes in last at Fall Preview

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. --
The post-Dustin Johnson era didn't start too well for the Coastal Carolina men's golf team.

Having lost the former All-American to graduation, the rest of the remaining cast and newcomers struggled to a last-place finish Sunday at the Ping Fall Preview hosted by Purdue University at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex Kampen Course.

The Chants closed with a final-round 14-over 302 to finish at 62-over 926. Coastal finished 59 strokes behind winner Charlotte (3-over 867) and 29 strokes behind the 14th-place Boilermakers.

The 49ers' Stefan Wiedergruen was the tournament's medalist at 7-under 209.

CCU's highest finisher was Josh Jackson, who tied for 47th at 11-over 227.

Zack Byrd (230, tied 55th), Lindsay Renolds (235, 69th), Cameron Hooper (236, tied 70th) and Sam Lyons (243, 74th) rounded out the Chants' scoring.

Men's soccer

Cal State Fullerton 2, (at) Coastal Carolina 1 (OT) | Skyler Thuresson scored from 15 yards out three minutes into overtime to give the Titans the victory.

Kheli Dube put the Chants ahead with a goal in the 48th minute.

Coastal (1-5-1) held a lead until an own goal in the 62nd minute allowed Fullerton to tie the game.

Chants goalie Phillip Latham had 12 saves to tie Paul Rosciani (1994) and Kristjan Augustsson (1987) for the fourth most in a game in school history.

Men's tennis

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. | CCU doubles duo Joseph Withers and John Hairston finished as runner-up in C Doubles at UNC the Invitational at Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.

In singles, five CCU finishers placed in the top 8: Dmitry Vlaskin took seventh in the Blue singles; Ernesto Ramos and David Mellis took sixth and seventh, respectively, in Green singles; Omar El Bouskouri finished sixth in Orange singles; Hairston was eighth in Garnet singles.
