Regional Digest: UCD wins pair in water polo

Adam Bennett and Carlos Martinez each scored three goals in UC Davis men's water polo victories Sunday in the UC Santa Cruz Slugfest.

Bennett's hat trick led the Aggies to a 12-6 win over Redlands, and Martinez's three goals led UCD to a 16-2 victory over La Verne.

The Aggies are 10-4, 9-0 in Western Water Polo Association play. They went 4-0 in the Slugfest.

Mike McGee had 15 saves for UCD against Redlands. Joseph Smith and Walter Eggert each had two goals against Redlands. Philippe Chordas and Jake Norton scored twice against La Verne.

Soccer

Brianna Buffington and Lauren Cram scored in the first 16 minutes to lead Cal State Fullerton (4-3-1, 1-0-0 Big West Conference) to a 2-0 victory over the host UC Davis women (4-4-0, 0-1-0).

• Danielle Holloway and Katie McCoy scored two goals each, and Rebeccah Phillips and Erin Tarantino each scored one to lead the Sacramento State women (4-2-1) to a 6-0 win over visiting Menlo (2-5-0).

• The UC Davis men (5-1-1) received goals from Paul Marcoux, Nicholas Lind and Julien Cerutti to beat Sac State (0-7-1) 3-0.
