Lindsay Meggs, a first-year coach at Indiana State, interviewed today for the UC Irvine baseball coaching job.
Meggs is the latest to meet with school officials about the position left vacant when Dave Serrano took over the Cal State Fullerton job. Rod Delmonico, Mike Gillespie and Pat Shine also have interviewed.
Meggs, who coached Indiana State to a 26-26 record this past season, took over the Sycamores’ program after spending 13 seasons as coach at Chico State, where he guided the Wildcats to two NCAA Division II titles and an overall record of 538-228-4.
Under Meggs, Chico State qualified for the Division II College World Series seven times in 10 years and won eight conference championships and seven regional titles.
A former All-Pac-10 infielder from UCLA, Meggs spent three seasons as coach at Long Beach City College, where he posted a record of 75-51-1.
