OSU's Casey mum on Oregon baseball
posted by Gary Horowitz
So what does Oregon State baseball coach Pat Casey think about resuming a baseball rivalry with Oregon? Curious minds want to know.
Since Oregon reinstated its baseball program this summer - the program was discontinued following the 1981 season - Casey has elected not to comment on Ducks baseball.
But Oregon baseball is a hot topic, especially after the Ducks recently named former Cal State Fullerton coach George Horton as its new coach. Horton led the Titans to six College World Series appearances in his 11 years at the school, including the 2004 national championship.
The two-time defending national champion Beavers defeated Fullerton en route to the 2007 CWS title.
“I haven’t commented on the Oregon baseball program publicly, and I don’t think now’s a good time to do that either,” Casey said Tuesday.
Oregon returns to the field in 2009, so Casey doesn’t have to worry about the Ducks for now. But his silence about Oregon baseball makes a statement.
