College highlights

Volleyball

Portland St. d. Rutgers 3-0: Marija Vojnovic recorded 12 kills, four aces and eight digs Thursday to lead the host Vikings as they defeated Rutgers 30-11, 30-14, 30-14.

Western Oregon d. Central Wash. 3-0: The Wolves swept three games from visiting Central Washington to win their conference opener Thursday and improve to 4-4 on the season.

Lewis-Clark St. d. Willamette 3-0; Willamette d. Montana-West. 3-1: After getting swept by Lewis-Clark St., Willamette dropped the first game against Montana-Western before coming back to win three straight games to earn the victory.

Oregon d. Rutgers 3-0: It was another victory and another three-game sweep for the Ducks, as they improved to 8-0 on the season with a home win against Rutgers.

Lower Columbia d. Chemeketa 3-2: The Storm came out strong to win the first two games, but host Lower Columbia surged back to take the win.

Chemeketa d. Clark 3-1: Kelsey Rogers had 21 kills to lead the Storm to a win.

George Fox d. Principia 3-0; Pomona-Pitzer d. George Fox 3-2: The Bruins came away with a split in their opening matches at the Pacific Coast Classic.

Portland d. Portland St. 3-2: Maria and Jessica Clemens each had 15 kills as the Pilots won their first home match of the season in the Nike Invitational opener at the Chiles Center.

Oregon St. d. Sacramento St. 3-2: Bree Knitter had 10 block assists to lead the Beavers.

Men's soccer

Portland 2, Sacramento State 0: The Pilots scored in each half and freshman goalie Austin Guerrero made five saves for his second straight shutout.

Willamette 3, Whittier 2: Casey Dineen scored twice as the Bearcats jumped out 3-0 in the first half and held on for their first win of the season.

Menlo 2, George Fox 1: Erich Hangartner scored a second-half goal for the Bruins, but it wasn't enough to come back from a 2-0 first-half deficit at Menlo College.

UC Davis 3, Oregon St. 1: Brett Gardner scored the only goal for the Beavers.

Linfield 1, Pomona-Pitzer 0: Travis Isaacs scored the game's only goal in the 49th minute.

Westmont 4, Corban 1: Anthony Niboli and Johnny Alcaraz each scored twice for Westmont.

Westmont 4, Corban 1: The Warriors gave up a pair of early goals in the loss.

Women's soccer

No. 1 Portland 2, Cal State Fullerton 1: Pilots freshman Elli Reed scored her first collegiate goal and Rachael Rapinoe added another to lead Portland at the Husky Invitational.

Oregon St. 4, Montana 0: Senior forward Jodie Taylor scored three goals as the Beavers defeated Montana for their first win of the season.

Oregon 5, UC Riverside 1: Danielle Sweeney and Jen Cameron scored less than a minute apart to begin a 5-goal second half for the Ducks.
