FULLERTON The first day of school at Fullerton College and Cal State Fullerton on Monday had a downside when students returned to their cars and found tickets for parking violations wedged beneath windshield wipers.
Sgt. Linda King of the Fullerton Police Department said parking patrol officers wrote 170 tickets around Fullerton College for neglecting time zones, red curbs, no stopping zones and street sweeping signs.
Another 75 were issued at the Fullerton Union High School agriculture department lot where college students disobeyed parking signs.
"No tickets will be written Tuesday or Wednesday because of high school registration," King said.
Parking permits for on-campus parking at FC are $35 per semester.
Only 25 tickets were issued around the Cal State Fullerton campus where permits are $144 per semester. The university campus now has two multi-level parking structures to accommodate students.
"Overall, the officers said parking infractions were light for the first day of school," King said.
