On the farm
Triple-A Louisville: Phil Dumatrait hasn't yet been called to the big leagues this season, but he squared off against a big-leaguer Saturday. Dumatrait allowed three earned runs in 61/3 innings in a 6-5 loss to Pawtucket and its starting pitcher, Curt Schilling, who is on a rehabilitation assignment. Dumatrait did not get a decision and is 9-5 with a 3.56 ERA in 20 starts with the Bats. Schilling struck out six, allowing two hits, in three shutout innings. Top outfield prospect Jay Bruce, 20, hit his second and third home runs in nine games with the Bats.
Single-A Dayton: Justin Turner, a 22-year-old second baseman who was a seventh-round pick out of Cal State Fullerton in the 2006 draft, continues to play well. Turner entered Saturday's game against Kane County hitting .308 with 19 doubles, three triples, nine homers and 48 RBI. He had 10 stolen bases and a .374 on-base percentage. Turner hit .338 in 60 games for rookie league Billings last summer after signing.
