Public input sought on city planning
Two workshops to obtain public input on the city’s General Plan update will be held Tuesday at Sunny Hills High School Performing Arts Center, 1801 Warburton Way, and July 26 at Lions Field Clubhouse, 1440 N. Brea Blvd. at Lemon Street.
Both workshops begin at 6:30 p.m.

Dissecting the
mystery tale
Forensic specialist and mystery author Dr. D.P. Lyle will discuss the role medical or forensic knowledge plays in mystery writing during the “Summer Sleuthing @ the Library” program at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the main library, 353 W. Commonwealth Ave. Admission is free to the public.
Lyle is the author of nonfiction books “Murder and Mayhem: A Doctor Answers Medical and Forensic Questions for Mystery Writers” and “Forensics for Dummies,” an in-depth look into the world of forensic science.
The Edgar Award-nominated author also has two fiction thrillers: “Devil’s Playground” and “Double Bind.”
He has worked as a consultant on television shows including “CSI:Miami,” “Cold Case” and “Law and Order.”

Have a night out
with the police
Fullerton police are inviting the public to attend “National Night Out,” a nationwide crime prevention program, from 5 to 8 p.m. on Aug. 7 at the Target Store, 200 W. Orangethorpe Ave. Demonstrations will be staged by the SWAT and K-9 units, and by the Fullerton Fire Department.
Games for the children, entertainment, prizes and refreshments will also be offered.

Help available to
seniors for housing needs
Appointments are available for homeowner and renter assistance this month, in August and September at the Senior Center, 340 W. Commonwealth Ave. Volunteers will be available from 12:30 to 3 p.m. on selected Thursdays to help seniors prepare claim forms for HRA assistance.
To qualify, applicants must be 62 years old or older or blind or disabled. The total household income may not exceed $42,772.
For the appointment, bring proof of age or disability, 2006 federal and state tax records, property tax bill and other applicable income records.
