Holly Ransom and Simon Bull of London were married in the evening of Aug. 14, 2006, surrounded by friends and family in the garden courtyard of a 19th-century hacienda in Orange County.
The bride is the daughter of Ben and Bev Ransom of Davis, and a 1999 graduate of Davis High School, where she was a member of the Jazz Band.
The groom is the son of Andy and Harriet Bull of Orange County, and a 1999 graduate of El Dorado High School.
The couple met at Cal State Fullerton, where the bride was working toward her master's degree in music performance on bass trombone, and the groom was finishing his bachelor's degree in the same subject.
The ceremony was led by the Bull family's pastor, Robert Mooney, with music provided by a trombone quartet comprised of friends and colleagues of the couple.
Their friend Andrew Houde of Boulder, Colo., was the best man. The bride's sister, Chelsea Ransom Le of Niwot, Colo., was the matron of honor. The groom's sisters, Polly Bull of Los Angeles and Sophie Bull of Orange County, were the bridesmaids.
Special guests included the bride's grandparents, Bruce and Dorothy Ferguson of Broomefield, Colo., and Roger and Shirley Ransom of Camarillo.
During the reception, guests enjoyed jazz standards and more lively selections performed by a band while dancing and savoring food, cake and champagne. Photos can be seen at www.hollyandsimon.com.
The couple honeymooned on the Central Coast, an area the bride fell in love with while attending Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, and at the Ransom family cabin in the Tehachapi Mountains. Following their honeymoon, they celebrated their marriage at a reception in Davis with friends and family from Northern California.
The couple resides in London, where both are freelance musicians. The bride also teaches piano and brass instruments privately and in London schools. The groom is working toward his master's degree at the Royal College of Music and teaches brass privately.
