Injury Ends Season For "Honker Of The Year"

His 2007 season had just begun when the injury bug struck Chris Jones (Cal St. Fullerton) for the second time in his career as a Rochester Honker. Jones suffered an injury to his right wrist when he was hit by a pitch in a game against the Waterloo Bucks on July 1, 2007. The severity of the injury is such that Jones will not be able to play another game for the Honkers this season.

“The big bone in my wrist is not broken, but I have to go home to see a hand specialist about the smaller bones and ligaments surrounding it,” Jones said. “Even if there are no breaks, I will not be able to swing a bat anywhere from three to five weeks.”

His coaches at Cal State Fullerton would like to monitor Jones’ progress throughout the rest of the summer and into the fall after his second injury wearing a Honkers jersey; his 2006 season was shortened due to a hamstring injury.
