Full moon highlights the week ahead in science

June 25: Argentine astronomer Guillermo Lemarchand will be Mat Kaplan's guest on Planetary Radio starting at 5:30 p.m. on KUCI/88.9. They will talk about the Southern Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence project.
June 26: Kristen Heather, curator at the Point Fermin Lighthouse, will discuss, "Light at the Edge of the Ocean, a Beacon for San Pedro Bay, 1874-1941," 1:15 p.m., Ruby Gerontology Center, Cal State Fullerton.
June 27: The Bowers Museum in Santa Ana will present "The Children's Hour: Egypt -- Land of the Sleeping Pharaohs," 2 p.m. "Egyptologist Dr. Kara Cooney presents tantalizing tales of searching for mummies in faraway Egypt," the museum says.
June 27: The Cassini spacecraft makes a close flyby of Saturn's moon Tethys.
June 28: Biologist Nilay Patel will discuss "Alzheimer's Disease: Neurodegenerative Processes, Risk Factors and Successful Aging," 1:15 p.m., Ruby Gerontology Center, Cal State Fullerton.
June 30: There will be a full moon this evening. Watch for it low on the southeast horizong starting about 9:30 p.m. It will be below and to the left of Jupiter.
