Steve Murray, dean of the College of Natural Science and Mathematics, and Karon Cornell, director of the Tucker Wildlife Sanctuary, look over a drawing for a refurbished amphitheater at the nature center in Modjeska Canyon. More than 30 years ago, the Izaak Walton League of America build the original amphitheater, which has served as an outdoor classroom. “Today, the amphitheater is in dire need of refurbishment,” said Cornell, who added that the Izaak Walton League has contributed the first $4,000 toward the project’s cost. Plans include building a new 90-seat amphitheater utilizing creek rock to blend in with the surrounding environment.
