Bright colors and interesting shapes draw the eye of a student who recently visited “Geo-Garden: An Exhibition of Minerals and Fossils” in the Atrium Gallery of the Pollak Library. The show features mineral specimens from the McGraw Collection, which was donated to Geological Sciences last year. McGraw, raised in Long Beach, worked as a marine clerk at the docks of Long Beach. It was there that he met a Scandinavian ship caption brought him his first mineral sample and sparked McGraw’s passion for gemstones, minerals, rocks and fossils.
