Janssen to Conduct Research and Teach at Huntington-USC Institute on California and the West
August 20, 2007
Volker Janssen, assistant professor of history, has been named a postdoctoral fellow at the Huntington-USC Institute on California and the West.
Janssen, who joined Cal State Fullerton in 2005, is the second postdoctoral fellow named for the institute, a partnership between the University of Southern California and the Huntington Library established in 2004 for the scholarly investigation of the history and culture of the state and the American West.
The purpose of the program is to help younger scholars to strengthen and broaden the base of their qualifications for a productive career in the humanities.
Janssen, whose research interests include the California prison system,
earned his master’s
degree and doctorate at University of California, San Diego. He will
be teaching several courses at USC during his postdoctoral tenure, and
will serve as a research fellow at the Huntington.
