Since its inception in 1946, more than 273,000 participants have been chosen
to observe each other’s political, economic and cultural institutions.
Of these, 45,400 have been overseas academics and professionals who have traveled
to the United States to conduct research or to teach as visiting scholars. More
than 43,000 U.S. faculty members and professionals have engaged in similar activities
abroad.
