First Day Enrollment
More than 32,000 students attend classes
February 5, 2007
Parking was at a premium and lines were inevitable as more than 32,000 students began the spring semester on Saturday, Jan. 20. Although the figure changed as soon as classes began, the first-day count for the university was tallied at 32,702 students and units per student at 11.49, according to Admissions and Records.
The figure is the highest first-day count for spring in the last five years and included 3,163 students enrolled at the Irvine Campus.
The university’s official semester count will be the number of students enrolled at census, or Feb. 16.
