Posters featuring 10 campus celebrities, who have made notable contributions to Cal State Fullerton and their favorite books, will be unveiled at 6 p.m. Sept. 19 in Room 130 of the Pollak Library. The CSUF READ @ Your Library poster series is part of the library’s contribution to the university’s 50th anniversary celebration. The poster people and their books are:
• University Librarian Pat Bril — “The Worldly Philosophers: The Lives, Times and Ideas of the Great Economic Thinkers” by Robert L. Heilbroner
• President Milton A. Gordon — “It Can't Happen Here” by Sinclair Lewis
• Former baseball coach George Horton — “Heads-Up Baseball” by Kenneth Ravizza, professor of kinesiology, and Tom Hanson
• Tam Nguyen, Cal State Fullerton Distinguished Alumni Award winner — “The Golden Destination,” a brochure for the VIBE 50th Anniversary event.
• A.Y. “Fred” Ramirez, associate professor of secondary education — “Screwtape Letters” by C.S. Lewis

“We’re excited to present CSUF READ @ Your Library,” said Heather Tunender, electronic resources librarian. “It celebrates reading for pleasure, as well as for enlightenment. I hope seeing the books that have influenced these 10 honorees inspires others to read or to think about books that have made a significant impact in their lives. “
In 1985, the American Library Association began its celebrity READ Poster campaign with the simple message: Read. The posters feature celebrities along with a book of their choice. The celebrities donate their time and the use of their image to promote the use of libraries.
