TOWN HALL: A CLOSER LOOK AT THE USA PATRIOT ACT
More than 400 campus and community members turned
out for the first in the university’s latest Town Hall series,
Issues That Divide. The evening’s topic, “A Closer
Look at the USA Patriot Act,” featured a keynote address by
internationally recognized terrorism expert Sabi Shabtai, top right,
as well as Luis Flores, chief division counsel at the FBI in Los
Angeles, middle right; Stephen Rohde, a constitutional rights attorney,
bottom right; Terry Francke, general counsel of the California First
Amendment Coalition, top left; and Gordon Bakken, professor of history,
middle left. Michele Gile, Orange County reporter for CBS2-TV and
KCAL9-TV, bottom left, served as moderator. The program was sponsored
by the Orange County Human Relations Commission and the university’s
Center for Community Dialogue, Center for Public Policy and College
of Communications.
