CHINESE PHYSICIAN STUDIES AT CSUF
Chinese anesthesiologist and hospital
director Xia Dan has just completed a semester on campus, thanks
to a grant from the Lingnan Foundation. During her stay at Cal State
Fullerton, Xia worked in the university’s Student Health and
Counseling Center, and visited other universities and hospitals
to learn more about U.S. hospital and clinic administration. “My
impressions of Cal State Fullerton are that people here work very
hard,” said Xia, pictured with Howard Wang, associate vice
president for student affairs. “I enjoyed learning more about
long-range planning and seeing how technology is used in health
care. Americans also are attuned to treating patients very well.
There’s a very humanistic approach. I appreciated the opportunity
to study here and especially appreciated the assistance I received
from Dr. Howard Wang and Dr. Robert Palmer [vice president for student
affairs].” Xia is now spending several weeks at Washington
University Hospital in St. Louis before returning to China.
