Environmental Town Hall May 6

“Our Environment in Peril – What, Me Worry?” is the focus of a Thursday, May 6, Issues That Divide Town Hall Series.

The 7:30 p.m. program, moderated by David Fromson, associate dean of the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, will explore multiple perspectives of the environment, including an economic viewpoint.

Milton Saier, biology professor at UC San Diego, will give the keynote address.

The purpose of the May town hall “is an increased awareness of the long-term problems that face our society,” noted Robert Koch, professor of biological science and a member of the town hall organizing committee. “This town hall will address global problems and how we can solve some of them on a local level.”

Town hall panelists include Claire Schlotterbeck, executive director of Hills for Everyone, a regional nonprofit citizens group devoted to conservation; Garrett Hess, president of the campus Green Party; John A. Bock, associate professor of anthropology; Morteza Rahmatian, professor of economics; and Steven N. Murray, professor of biological science and 2002-03 CSUF Outstanding Professor.

Event sponsors are Center for Community Dialogue, Center for Public Policy and College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. For more information, call 278-4854, or visit the Web site at www.fullerton.edu/townhall/.
