Gifts Support University Programs, Scholarships

The late Edith L. McCullough, emeritus professor of secondary education, has made a planned gift to the Pollak Library. Estimated at $300,000, the donation will create an endowment to purchase books and other media. McCullough’s gift is but one of several recent gifts that are benefiting students by supporting colleges, departments, programs and projects.

Currently in its private phase, the campaign for the new College of Business and Economics building has raised almost half of its $15 million goal – $5 million of which will go toward the building itself and $10 million to fund endowments, programs and scholarships. Among the recent contributions are: a $500,000 pledge from alumnus Steve Charton (B.A. business administration ’71) to name the 250-seat lecture hall; a $100,000 pledge from alumnus Jeff Payne (B.A. business administration ’80) to name the Finance Department’s suite; $50,000 from Rick Muth of Orco Block, a founding member of the Family Business Council, to name the council director’s office; a $50,000 pledge from accounting firm White, Nelson & Co. to the Center for Entrepreneurship; a $50,000 pledge from Ron Stein Family & Principal Technical Services to the Family Business Council and the Center for Entrepreneurship; and a $25,000 gift of securities from Dan Hann (B.A. business administration ’77) to the Economics Department’s Fund for Excellence.

Publisher Pearson Education has given $7,500 to the Human Communication Studies Depart-ment to educate and train associates teaching the Introduction to Human Communication course.

A $17,000 gift from Boeing is funding the Mathematics Engineering Science Achievement program and two scholarships for students in the College of Engineering and Computer Science and MESA Engineering Program.
