Cal State Fullerton's Model United Nations
delegation made a splash in New Orleans, receiving the Outstanding
Delegation Award for their efforts at the America West Model UN
Conference.
In addition to the delegation award, three students
came away with honors. Chris Salorio, representing Norway in the
refugees committee, and Amy Roberts, who represented Argentina in
the Organization of American States, were awarded the Outstanding
Delegate Award. James Day, who represented Norway in the Security
Council, was honored with the Distinguished Delegate Award.
Other delegation members were: Tony Contratto, who
represented Canada in the Organization of American States; Jeremy
Harrison, representative for Canada in the Economic and Social Council;
Jani Ranasinghe, who served as the Argentinian representative in
ECOSOC; Young Kim, who represented Sweden in ECOSOC; and Valerie
Vanderwest, the Swedish representative in the World Health Organization.
“Chalk up another outstanding performance for
this group,” said Alan Saltzstein, chair of the Division of
Political Science and Criminal Justice and professor of political
science.
In April, the delegation heads to New York to compete
in the national and international Model United Nations competition.
