Background:

The Duo was formed in 1992. Since then, they have firmly established themselves in the world of music, both at home and abroad, where invitations have led them both to Bulgaria, Germany, Austria and Spain.

The duo Jochen Brusch and Finn Svit have performed over 800 school concerts in both Germany and Denmark, as well as strings of concerts in churches, for music societies and at various international festivals. The duo has broadcast on radio and television, both at home and abroad. Their two CDs "Treasures for the Violin and Guitar" and "More Treasures" have been highly acclaimed by a number of international music publications. The world famous violinist Yehudi Menuhin warmly recommended the duo before his death.

Jochen Brusch studied the violin at the conservatories of Duisburg, Essen and Hanover (Germany). He is also a graduate of the Royal College of Music, London. From 1980 to 1986 he was violinist in the Herning Stadstrio, a piano trio based in Jütland (Denmark). After a period as concertmaster of the Essen Philharmonic Orchestra, Brusch moved to Tübingen southern Germany, a university town, which became the center of his teaching. Also an active performer, his schedule comprised approximately 100 concerts every year, a large number of these take place in the Scandinavian region and Germany. Other performances have taken him to Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Holland, Belgium, France, Spain, Austria, Bulgaria, Italy, Switzerland and the US.

Brusch often performs the complete cycle of works for solo violin by Johann Sebastian Bach (3 sonatas and 3 partitas), and is dedicated to the repertoire of the Romantic period. Over the years he has performed and recorded many forgotten and neglected works by Gounod, Massenet and Henriques. He has recorded over 100 different works on CD and his compositions and transcriptions are regularly published.

Finn Svit completed his studies of music teaching at the North Jutland Music Conservatory where he received a Danish Music Association Scholarship and participated in master classes given by some of Europe’s most renowned guitarists. He has taught at the international guitar seminar in Barmstedt (Germany) since 1989 and gives lectures at the New Bulgarian University, the National University and at the National Palace of Culture in Sofia (Bulgaria). He sat on the jury at the International Competition for Guitar Duos in Bubenreuth and has judged the International Guitar Competition in Plovdiv (Bulgaria) several times. For a number of years he has been conductor of the North Jutland Guitar Orchestra.

Svit is the founder and artistic director of the Aalborg International Guitar Festival, which annually attracts top names in the guitar world. He has appeared as soloist and chamber musician in various combinations, performing in numerous concerts throughout Denmark, Germany, Sweden, Austria and Bulgaria. He has been featured in several radio programs and has appeared in television productions in Denmark and Bulgaria.
