Background: |
Guest Conductor Brooks Whitehouse
is a cello professor at University of North Carolina, Greensboro.
He received his B.A. from Harvard College and his M.M.A. and
D.M.A. from SUNY Stony Brook. Whitehouse has performed and
taught chamber music throughout the U.S. and abroad, holding
artists-in-residence positions at SUNY Stony Brook, the Guild
Hall in East Hampton (NY), the University of Virginia as a
member of the Guild Trio and The Tanglewood Music Center.
As a member of the Guild Trio, the ensemble won the USIA Artistic
Ambassador and Chamber Music of Yellow Springs competitions,
and through winning performed and held master classes from
United States to Australia. As a soloist, Whitehouse has appeared
with the New England Chamber Orchestra, Nashua, New Brunswick,
Billings and Owensboro symphonies, and has appeared in recital
across the northeastern United States. His performances have
been broadcast on WQXR's "McGraw-Hill Young Artist Showcase,"
WNYC's "Around New York," and the Australian and
Canadian Broadcasting Corporation networks.
The California State University, Fullerton Cello Choir, under
the baton of Bongshin Ko, has been in existence since spring
2001. Its purpose is to promote and introduce music student
to the vast array of performance literature for cello ensemble
and advance the performance practice of the cello choir. The
group’s activities offer a combination of rehearsals,
sectionals, workshops/master classes and concerts with guest
artists and conductors. |
