Background:

Third prizewinner of the 1987 Leeds International Piano Competition, Noriko Ogawa has inspired audiences and young pianists in Europe, America and her native Japan where she is a national celebrity. In 1999 she was awarded the Japanese Ministry of Education's Art Prize in recognition of her outstanding contribution to the cultural profile of Japan throughout the world. She regularly appears at major arts festivals, performs with major orchestras including the BBC Philharmonic, Singapore Symphony Orchestra, Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, Gothenburg (Germany) Symphony and others. She regularly makes radio and television broadcasts for both NHK and Nippon television. In addition, she is an exclusive recording artist BIS Records including works by Takemitsu, Rachmaninoff, the complete works for piano by Debussy which won Editor's Choice in the March 2003 edition of Gramophone Magazine and others.
