Symphony Orchestra Celebrates 25 Years

In a special homecoming celebration, the Pacific Symphony Orchestra will celebrate 25 years of great music where it started – on the Cal State Fullerton campus and Plummer Auditorium – Sunday, Jan. 25.

An inaugural concert program of the then-Pacific Chamber Orchestra, “A Night in Old Vienna,” will be recreated for the gala benefiting the Pacific Symphony. Concertgoers will begin the black tie-optional evening with dinner on campus, then reassemble at Plummer Auditorium to hear conductor Carl St. Clair lead the orchestra in selections by Mozart, Schubert and members of the Strauss family.

President Milton A. Gordon is honorary committee chair.

The Pacific Chamber Orchestra was created to provide the university community and area residents with high-quality musical performances. The group’s formation was aided by a President’s Associates grant and the encouragement of College of the Arts Dean Jerry Samuelson.

Since then, the orchestra has grown in stature – it’s the state’s third-largest orchestra – and currently calls the Performing Arts Center in Costa Mesa its primary concert venue.

Tickets begin at $40 and can be reserved by calling the Pacific Symphony ticket office at 755-5799. For more information, call Milly Muzzy of University Advancement at 278-7596.
