Cal State Fullerton’s growing business administration program was in need when it received approval for a new home. The new Mihaylo College of Business and Economics’ high-tech, energy-efficient home provides vital space for meeting, working and advancing educational opportunities for students enrolled in both its master's degree programs and the largest accredited undergraduate business program in California.
On Oct. 17, 2008, the university, college and more than 8,000 majors celebrated the completion of Mihaylo Hall, a five-story, 195,000-square-foot building named after 1969 graduate Steven G. Mihaylo, who has given more than $34 million to his alma mater — part of a $50 million capital campaign that CSUF successfully completed in 2008. The festivities included tours, a time capsule, ribbon-cutting, receptions and an address by California Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner.
The new building houses classrooms and computer labs and a 250-seat tiered lecture hall, as well as a state-of the art interactive facility designed for nurturing collaboration and engagement. The James D. Woods Grand Foyer doubles as a study hall and lounge, complete with a Starbucks. “This building provides the foundation that will move us forward,” said Anil K. Puri, dean of the Mihaylo College of Business and Economics. “Mihaylo Hall has become the place where we can bring the business community into the college.”
