Benefit Concert A Hit

Country music songstress Reba McEntire headlined Front & Center 2009 Feb. 28 at the Honda Center, where the two-time Grammy Award winner entertained a crowd of close to 8,000 with a concert that included many of her No. 1 hits. A cast of 18 student singers and dancers launched the show with “There’s No Business Like Show Business,” performed a tribute to McEntire and later joined her on stage for a closing number. Class of 2004 graduate Ashley Force Hood, the first woman to race in a National Hot Rod Association Funny Car final, charmed the audience as master of ceremonies, talking about her student days and how she has utilized what she learned as a radio-TV-film major. During the festivities, President Milton A. Gordon presented the Orange County Titan Award to First American Corp. Chairman and CEO Parker Kennedy. Proceeds from the 14th annual gala benefit the President’s Scholars program.
