A Link to Orange County's Past
A collection of more than 15,000 cubic feet of artifacts and fossils
March 1, 2007
Fossils and artifacts, some dating back 90 million years are in the care of Cal State Fullerton. Under a 1999 agreement with the County of Orange, the university developed a model for archeological and paleontological curation that involved sorting, storing, preserving and organizing more than 15,000 cubic feet of artifacts and fossils. Although the contract with the county ended in 2004, faculty members John Cooper, emeritus professor of geological sciences, and Andrea Murray, coordinator of archeology, continue to oversee and volunteer their time to tend to the collection.
