Campus Plans Emergency Exercise

Earthquake Drill Provides Opportunity to Practice Search and Rescue

Cal State Fullerton will conduct a limited emergency exercise Friday, Aug. 10, to test campus readiness and crisis response. No evacuation of buildings is scheduled during the 8 to 11 a.m. exercise.

The earthquake response exercise will be held in the vicinity of student housing on the east side of campus. Plans call for the CSUF Community and Medical Emergency Response teams to be activated and respond to “victims,” triaging on site, then relocating to a medical tent set up on the soccer field adjacent to Titan House.

Members of the campus Emergency Operations Team will activate the Emergency Operations Center (EOC), located in the University Police Building.

“The goal,” said Sue Fisher, CSUF emergency management coordinator, “is to give members of the emergency operations and other teams more experience with EOC activation, management of events and to test communications with the EOC and other entities.”
