Arts and Nature Celebration at Tucker Wildlife Sanctuary

What:
Community members are invited to tour the Tucker Wildlife Sanctuary and meet artists and crafters as they display and sell their work at the annual Spring Fair and Art Festival April 21-22. Live music, art and nature programs, a barbecue, children’s activities and Earth Day celebration also highlight the family-oriented event.
More than 50 arts and crafts vendors will be showing their wares during the annual fair and art festival at Tucker Wildlife Sanctuary.
When:
Saturday, April 21, and Sunday, April 22
10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Cost:
$5 a person; children under 12 are free.
Why:
Proceeds to benefit Tucker’s education program and transportation scholarships to bring disadvantaged students from local schools to the sanctuary, owned by Cal State Fullerton and operated by the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics.

Weekend Program:
Some 50 arts and crafts vendors, including members of the CSUF Ceramics Club are expected, along with a rescue reptile organization that will offer conservation information and live reptile appearances.
1 p.m. — Mark Mendez, a Chumash Indian, will present a program on California Indians
2 p.m. — Nature Hike led by naturalist (advanced reservations required)
3:30 p.m. — “Leave No Trace” class for children

11 a.m.-2 p.m. — Tours of the Helena Modjeska Home

Artwork for sale includes: ceramics, jewelry, photographs, oil and water color paintings, soap and candles, knitted and crocheted items, copper and metal jewelry and yard art, handmade purses and eco-friendly totes. Drought-tolerant native plants will be for sale in Tucker’s greenhouse, and attendees can participate in bird-watching walks, craft activities and face painting for children.
Free Parking:
Event visitors may park in the lot on the corner of Santiago Canyon and Modjeska Canyon roads and board a shuttle bus to Tucker Wildlife Sanctuary. Parking at the sanctuary is limited.
