OC Latino Education Conversations Conference March 9

What:   

Cal State Fullerton hosts the third annual Orange County Latino Education Community Conversations conference March 9. The conference goal is to expand productive partnerships among parent, community and educational leaders with an interest in understanding and impacting key policies and practices that affect the academic engagement, opportunities to learn and educational achievement of Latino English learners in Orange County K-12 schools. The conference is free and open to the public.

Who:

Speakers include Jose F. Moreno, president of Los Amigos of Orange County and trustee of the Anaheim City School District, who will present “Bridging the Communication Gap Between Parents of English Learners, Schools and Districts,” and Minerva Chavez, Cal State Fullerton assistant professor of secondary education, discussing “Are We Building Bridges? Revisiting Our Role as Cultivators of Partnerships Across Schools, Families and Communities.”

Additional:  

Participants will be treated to a noontime performance by CSUF’s Ballet Folklorico before they take part in four workshops on the best practices to address the academic needs and success of English Learners.

Parking:

$2 per hour or $8 for a daily permit Monday through Friday. Details available online.
