Student Activities Benefit Summer Camp for Children

What:
Cal State Fullerton’s Greek organizations will hold activities this week to foster camaraderie and raise money for Camp Titan, a summer camp for underprivileged children of Orange County. Joining this year's activity lineup is the “Camp Titan Awareness Walk” March 10, in addition to Greek Olympic-style games, a can-castle contest and an awards ceremony recognizing campus fraternities and sororities. Events are free and open to the CSUF community.

More than 800 fraternity and sorority students from all 11 chapters of the Interfraternity and Panhellenic councils are expected to participate in this week’s slate of fun, games and competition — all to aid children. The Panhellenic Council and Interfraternity Council sponsor Greek Week. Chapter members will be collecting change donations at each of the events, including the walk. Last year, Greek Week raised more than $50,000 to benefit Camp Titan.
Why:
“This is a wonderful event for Greek students to show their spirit and unity and at the same time, give back to the campus and the community,” said Maricela Alvarado, Greek Week coordinator. “Greek Week is the highlight of their spring semester.”
Schedule
March 7
11 a.m. — Chalk mural and can-castle competitions along Titan Walk, the walkway between the Titan Student Union and the Quad
5 p.m. — Kick-off event featuring DJ, performer and food trucks on the lawn next to the Student Recreation Center
March 8
Noon — Women's softball and men's flag football on the athletics field across from Titan Gymnasium
March 9
4:30 p.m. — Women’s volleyball and men's basketball in Titan Gymnasium
March 10
9 a.m. — Camp Titan Awareness Walk, a 2.5-mile walk with chapters collecting coins/donations, on the lawn adjacent to the Student Recreation Center
1 p.m. — Field Day, relay races and food trucks on the lawn adjacent to the Student Recreation Center
March 11
11 a.m. — Lip sync, a variety show of acting, dancing, costumes and props in the campus Quad
2 p.m. — Greek Week awards ceremony, recognizing achievements and accomplishments of Greek chapters, in the Quad
