Communications Week 2012

Professionals Discuss Their Careers at 34th Annual Event

What:                  

More than 80 communications professionals will discuss their work and careers, as well as the impact that communication plays in our lives, during Cal State Fullerton’s Communications Week 2012. The annual event will feature a student-led conference, as well as speakers in such fields as journalism, public relations, radio, TV, film, photography, advertising, entertainment and tourism. Most events are free.

Jerry Caraccioli (B.A. communications-public relations ’90), executive director of communications, CBS Television Network Sports Division

Christina Lee Storm (B.A. communications-radio-TV-film ’92), manager of digital production, Rhythm and Hues Studio, and production supervisor for this year’s Academy Award-winner for best picture, “The Artist”

Eric Dapkewicz (B.A. communications-radio-TV-film ’94), DreamWorks Animation film editor, whose films include Academy Award nominee “Puss in Boots,” “Monsters vs Aliens” and “Flushed Away”

Tim Page, professor of journalism and music at USC and the winner of the Pulitzer Prize for criticism in 1997, as chief classical music critic for The Washington Post

Jim Newton, editor at large, Los Angeles Times

Larry Hurber, president and CEO of Animotion Works Inc., who has worked on such animated programs as “Dexter’s Laboratory,” “The Powerpuff Girls” and “The Fairly OddParents”

Becky Hamilton (B.A. communications-radio-TV-film ’06), director and producer of the award-winning documentary “Heart of a Soul Surfer” and co-producer of the feature film “Soul Surfer”

Erick Galindo, editor-interactive media, San Gabriel Valley Newspaper Group

Comm Week was launched in 1978. Over the past 34 years, more than 1,000 speakers have participated. All events are created, organized and implemented by a student task force from the College of Communications.
