Former College Administrator to Speak on Effective Mentoring

Cal State Fullerton alumnus Richard M. Ramirez (B.A. sociology ’71, M.A. sociology ’74), a retired Fullerton College administrator and counselor, will deliver a Friday, May 6, talk on how to be an effective mentor for college students and faculty members. His presentation at Cal State Fullerton is free and open to the public. Lunch will be provided.

Background:
Richard M. Ramirez
Richard M. Ramirez held various teaching and management positions during his 38-year career in the North Orange County Community College District. He taught sociology and worked as a counselor, director of student service programs, dean and vice president for student services at Fullerton College. The Air Force veteran, who earned his doctorate from Nova University in Florida, was a leader in mobilizing the Maple community in Fullerton for a fair and equitable desegregation school plan in the early 1970s. He also served on various city committees, including the Fullerton Police Department promotion committee. Since his retirement in 2007, he has been an active member of Los Amigos of Orange County, serving on its Education Committee, as well as participating in an advisory role for Fullerton College and NOCCCD committees.
