Four ROTC Cadets Graduating With Commissions Dec. 16

What: Four U.S. Army cadets in Cal State Fullerton's Reserve Officer Training Corps, who also are completing their college degrees, will be commissioned for duty as second lieutenants Dec. 16. Once commissioned, the soon-to-be new officers will undergo up to a year of officer training, then report to their respective duty stations in the United States or abroad.

Who: The Cal State Fullerton ROTC program welcomes cadets from other universities and colleges, as well as from CSUF. The cadets are:
- Sven C. Jenson, Diamond Bar, B.A. criminal justice, CSUF
- Jessica D. Trillo, Lake Elsinore, B.A. criminal justice, CSUF
- Jessica R. Villanueva, Anaheim, B.A. business administration-accounting, CSUF
- Gregory E. Clemmons, Costa Mesa, B.A. business administration, Vanguard University
Top Cadet: Jenson will graduate as the Titan Battalion's top cadet and recipient of the Distinguished Military Graduate Award for displaying outstanding qualities of leadership, high moral character, noteworthy academic achievement and exceptional aptitude for military service.
Maj. Gen. John S. Harrel
Keynoter: Retired Maj. Gen. John S. Harrel will deliver the ceremony's keynote address. His active military service began in 1975 when he was commissioned an infantry second lieutenant in the Marine Corps. He transferred into the California Army National Guard in 1980. Since his commissioning, he has held many positions of responsibility, including as commander of TF-185 Armor during the 1992 Los Angeles riots; commanding general of the 40th Infantry Division; and commanding general for Task Force Falcon/Multi-National Brigade (East), Kosovo and Army Forces, Kosovo, Macedonia and Albania. The recipient of a number of medals and awards, Harrel retired in April and is studying for a master's degree in history at Cal State Northridge.
Parking: $2 per hour or $8 for a daily permit Monday through Friday. Details available online.
