Background:
The original Great Isaiah Scroll was penned more than 2,100 years ago and discovered in 1947 by Bedouin shepherds in caves along rocky cliffs west of the Dead Sea.

The replica is owned by Legacy Church Orange County, and on loan from the Museum of Biblical and Sacred Writings in Irvine. Created by Facsimile Editions Ltd. of London using photographs of the original taken in 1948, the replica measures 23.5 feet in length and is comprised of 17 sheets of parchment sewn together.

The book of Isaiah is a central Messianic and prophetic text for the Jewish and Christian faiths. Isaiah spoke of the future hope for Israel, while condemning the evil deeds of the people and advocating for social justice and adherence to God's laws.
