The growing importance of water in international politics, how Orange County protects its water supply and plans to garner more water are the topics of discussion for a Cal State Fullerton researcher and an Orange County Water Department official at the April 30 College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics Colleagues Colloquium meeting. The event is open to the public.

Hydrogeochemist Tara Kneeshaw, CSUF assistant professor of geological sciences, will first focus on little-realized aspects of the importance of water to life, then give the big view on how safe drinking water may overtake oil in international importance. Roy Herndon, Orange County Water District chief hydrogeologist, will tell of the battle to protect the huge aquifer under Orange County from contamination and ocean water, as well as the county’s quest for more water supplies.
