Mihaylo College of Business and Economics to Honor Five

What:

Cal State Fullerton’s Mihaylo College of Business and Economics will honor five executives for their achievements March 10 during the annual “Salute to Business Leaders.” The executives will lead classes and meet with students and faculty members to discuss their background, experience and the skills necessary for success. They will then be honored at an awards luncheon.

Who:

Corinne D. Baughman (B.A. business administration-accounting and psychology ’84), tax partner in the Orange County office of Moss Adams LLP, is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, California Society of Certified Public Accountants and National Society of Hispanic MBAs, as well as a member of Mihaylo College of Business and Economics Executive Council Advisory Board. She also has a master’s degree in taxation from Golden Gate University.

David P. Doran (B.A. business administration-accounting ’75), managing partner, White, Nelson & Co., LLC, is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and California Society of Certified Public Accountants, where he served as chair of organization’s government relations activities. Doran also is a member of the Orange County California Society of Certified Public Accountants and a former chair of its Management of Accounting Practice Committee.

James E. Gutmann (M.B.A. ’80), partner in Wood, Gutmann & Bogart Insurance Brokers, joined the industry after a 15-year career as a nuclear engineer. He has taught on campus, is a founding member of the college’s Center for Insurance Studies and serves on the Mihaylo College of Business and Economics Dean’s Advisory Board. He also is a member of Cal State Fullerton’s President’s Associates.

JoAnne Norton is president of Dr. JoAnne Norton and Associates family business consultants and a former vice president of shareholder relations for Freedom Communications. Norton, who holds a doctorate in organizational leadership from Pepperdine University, has taught management courses at Cal State Fullerton and serves as a member of the university’s Family Business Council Advisory Board.

Mitch J. Zehner (B.A. business administration–finance and management ’83), executive vice president of Voit Commercial Brokerage, is a member of the American Industrial Real Estate Association, Corporate Facilities Advisors and National Association of Industrial and Office Properties. Last month, he was named to the Cal State Fullerton Philanthropic Foundation Board of Governors.

Why:

“These are excellent representatives of today’s corporate leadership, and all serve companies that are leaders in their fields,” said Anil Puri, dean of Mihaylo College of Business and Economics. “Our Salute to Business Leaders event not only allows us the opportunity to honor their leadership, but also provides the opportunity for the honorees to serve as role models for our students. Our faculty and students benefit tremendously from staying connected with the business world and its most successful leaders.”
