Steve Miller Band Headlines Front & Center 2010

Classic Rock Group to Perform for Cal State Fullerton

What:

The Steve Miller Band, whose pop/rock hits include “Fly Like an Eagle” and “Take the Money and Run,” will headline Cal State Fullerton’s Front & Center 2010. Proceeds from the 15th annual event will benefit student scholarships.

Saturday, Feb. 20, 8 p.m.

Who:

Actress Kirsten Vangsness, who portrays the quirky computer whiz Penelope Garcia on the CBS hit drama series “Criminal Minds,” will serve as master of ceremonies. A Cal State Fullerton graduate from the Class of ’96, Vangsness earned her bachelor’s degree in theatre arts. The evening’s entertainment will include student performers from the university’s College of the Arts.

Platinum sponsors are Honda Center, Orange County Register and Pepsi.

Background:

Front & Center debuted in 1996 with Colin Powell as keynoter. Successive years featured: Michael Eisner, Walter Cronkite, Bill Cosby, Tony Bennett, Whoopi Goldberg, Christopher Reeve, Natalie Cole, Kenny Loggins, The Doobie Brothers, Gladys Knight, Chicago, Stevie Nicks and Reba McEntire.

Guiding the event is the university’s Blue Ribbon Committee, a group of business and civic leaders dedicated to raising funds for student scholarships. More than 400 students received scholarships to Cal State Fullerton since Front & Center’s launch.

Cost:

Tickets range from $45 to $100 for arena seating and can be purchased online. Table seating for the black-tie dinner and concert is available for donors who contribute $600 to $1,200 for individual seats, or from $5,000 to $25,000 for entire tables of 10.
