Helping Nonprofits Succeed

Summer School for Nonprofits July 9-11 at Cal State Fullerton

Grant writing, promotion, financial reporting and analysis and capital campaigns will be among the topics addressed at Cal State Fullerton's Summer School for Nonprofits July 9-11 in University Hall.

"Strengthening nonprofit capacity is a win-win for the community and the campus," said Kathleen Costello, assistant director of the Center for Internships and Service-Learning. "Tapping into the university's teaching and research abilities to benefit our partner agencies will help them to serve our communities better. And that will make for richer learning experiences for our students when they are placed in agencies for internships or service learning."

The summer school originally began as a one-day program and has expanded to three days this year to provide more of the information that nonprofits have requested. Last year, more than 200 people from five different counties attended.

Half-day "crash courses" on such topics as branding, direct mail, annual giving, major gifts, succession planning and program evaluation are among this year's offerings. Kicking off the series will be the Association of Fundraising Professionals' annual fundraising fundamentals course from 8:30-4:30 p.m. July 9.

Cal State Fullerton's Center for Internships and Service-Learning, Gianneschi Center for Nonprofit Research and the Office of Public Affairs and Government Relations sponsor the event.

Program cost is $85 for any one day, $140 for two days or $200 for all three days with discounts for members of co-sponsoring nonprofit associations. For more information, call 657-278-3746 or visit www.fullerton.edu/NonprofitSummerSchool.
