Dara Cornell, Kerri Gaglioti and Evan Fields were among the Titans who swept the student competition of the Hollywood Reporter's 37th annual Key Art Awards.
Cal State Fullerton dominated this year's student competition of the Hollywood Reporter's 37th annual Key Art Awards - which salute achievements in motion picture marketing and advertising - capturing the top two prizes, plus second- and third-place honors.
Senior art major Dara Cornell of Santa Ana captured first place in the trailer category.
Kerri Gaglioti (B.F.A. art '08) of Huntington Beach also won first place, in the one-sheet (poster) competition, followed by fellow Titans Evan Fields (B.F.A. art '08) of Rialto and Vincent Yobeanto (B.F.A. art '08) of Chino Hills, who finished second and third, respectively.
Kerri Gaglioti: Dreamgirls
Students created their posters or trailers for the films "300" (Cornell and Yobeanto), "Dreamgirls" (Gaglioti) or "Knocked Up" (Fields). Their schools had received copies of the films, along with collateral materials, such as production stills, logos and images from each.
The competition received 373 submissions from students at 32 colleges and design schools. Entries were judged by entertainment industry veterans - representatives from the major movie studios and creative agencies that studios contract with to develop marketing materials.
Evan Fields: Knocked Up
Cash prizes totaling $27,000 were awarded to the top winners in each category and their schools during a reception at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandise.
The Key Art Awards were launched in 1972 to honor the accomplishments of art directors, designers, illustrators, photographers and copywriters responsible for developing the art used in motion picture marketing and promotion.
