Prints from the Cal State Fullerton Collection II is an exhibition of over 100 works from the university's print collection - shown only once before in 2001.
The collection includes both contemporary and historical prints in a range of printmaking techniques and mediums. Retired Cal State Fullerton art department professor G. Ray Kerciu began acquiring prints for the university thirty-seven years ago and the collection has grown to be an important archive. Some of the prints were created on campus; the collection features those artworks by important California artists including Alexis Smith, Lita Albuquerque and Ed Ruscha.
The exhibition also highlights prints produced by the Grand Central Press at Cal State Fullerton's Grand Central Art Center in Santa Ana. Since its inception in 2001, the Grand Central Press has worked with master printmaker James Lorigan to produce a total of 15 limited-edition prints by distinguished contemporary artists who were invited to be artists-in-residence at Grand Central Art Center. These artists include Sandow Birk, Tony Delap, Mark Ryden, SHAG and Peter Zokowsky. From each edition, one print is donated to the university to add to its illustrious and expanding collection.
