Cal State Fullerton Business Dean to Address Fullerton Leaders
Anil Puri to Discuss Region’s Economic and Policy Challenges

Anil K. Puri, dean of Cal State Fullerton’s College of Business and Economics and co-director of the university’s Institute for Economic and Environmental Studies, will discuss “Economic and Policy Challenges for Our Region” Friday, Jan. 25, as part of Fullerton’s State of the City Luncheon.

Presented by the Fullerton Chamber of Commerce, the annual event is scheduled from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the university’s Titan Student Union, where Fullerton Mayor Sharon Quirk will deliver the keynote address. A CSUF alumna, Quirk earned her teacher credential in 1987.

Puri, dean of the CSUF College of Business and Economics since 1999, joined the Department of Economics in 1977, shortly after earning his doctorate in economics from the University of Minnesota. He was acting dean of the nationally accredited college for a year before being appointed to the permanent post and had served as chair of the Economics Department for the previous decade.

Puri has been a national and international speaker, making presentations throughout the United States and Asia. His research — ranging from state air pollution regulations to the impact of NASA cutbacks on south central Los Angeles — has been published in such leading academic publications as the Policy Studies Journal, National Tax Journal, Journal of Conflict Resolution and International Journal of Forecasting.

He is executive vice president of the Western Economic Association International, the second largest professional organization of economics on the West Coast.
