Cal State Fullerton Assistant Dean Awarded
State Honor
Outstanding Achievement in Career
Development Recognized

Lea Beth Lewis, assistant dean for student
affairs in Cal State Fullerton’s College of Health
and Human Development, has been honored for outstanding achievement
in career development by EUREKA, the California Career Information
System.
The Leigh Robinson Award, named for one of
the organization’s
founders, was presented to Lewis during the 24th annual International
Career Development Conference in Sacramento.
“I
am so grateful to be recognized with this singular honor,” said
the Placentia resident, who has served at Cal State Fullerton
for nearly seven years. “I
am delighted to receive the Leigh Robinson Award in whose
honor this is dedicated.”
Created
in 1983, the award honors a career development practitioner
who “best
exemplifies the knowledge, values and professionalism needed
in the implementation of outstanding career development services for their
students or clients.”
The basic
foundation of EUREKA was established in 1975 with the goal
of delivering improved career development services to students. The organization
adopted the EUREKA name in 1976 and expanded throughout California in 1980.
As
assistant dean for the College of Health and Human Development,
Lewis coordinates and promotes college and student affairs
programs and services to faculty members, students, employers
and alumni. Prior to her position in the college, Lewis served
as assistant dean for student affairs in the College of Business
and Economics and was the college’s liaison in the
university’s
Career Planning and Placement Center.
Lewis holds
a doctorate in educational leadership from USC, as well as
a bachelor’s
degree in social work and a master’s degree in counseling
from Cal State Long Beach. She also is a certified professional/master
career counselor.
