BACKGROUND:

“Our Town,” a Pulitzer Prize-winning play by Thornton Wilder, focuses on the day- to-day existence of the members of a small New England community in the early 1900s. Wilder’s most frequently produced play, “Our Town” is filled with the universal themes of love, death, simplicity and suffering: themes that still resonate with audiences today. Of the play, Wilder is quoted as saying “Our Town is not offered as a picture of life in a New Hampshire village; or speculation about the conditions of life after death … It is an attempt to find a value above all price for the smallest events of daily life.”

Set in the fictitious town of Grover’s Corners, the “Our Town” ‘stage manager’ acts as a member of the community and the narrator, navigating the audience and the people of Grover’s Corners through daily life in the small town.  Focusing mainly on the relationship between the George Gibb and Emily Webb, the audience is privy to the trials and tribulations of their young lives, ultimately learning that life is a precious gift that is given to us in moments that should each be cherished, one as much as the next.

The cast includes Eric Czuleger as George Gibbs, Irene Myers as Emily Webb, Chris Roque as the stage manager, James Bean as Howie Newsome and Joseph Tostado as Simon Stimson.

Fred Kinney is scenic designer, Emily Mackey is costume designer, John Fisher is audio designer, and Ernest Brown is lighting designer.
